Tax on Illness: A guide to NHS charges

This sets down the legal basis of the various charges which the NHS is entitled to levy. These are chiefly but not exclusively for prescriptions, dentistry and ophthalmology. In addition it surveys the history of charging, the forces pushing for its extension and the negative consequences for public health and equity. It concludes with a list of policy recommendations.
